As you are all aware, I am judging on Bling Ya Ting talent show and have loved all the talent that I have seen so far at the first auditions last Saturday! It isn't too late to apply as there are more auditions in January. Find out how to apply here. We accept ANY STYLES. Here is another act that has applied for Bling Ya Ting and is a regular to the show, Scrilla! He has won a few talent competitions in his rap career and has featured along side Grammy award winning artists on a mixtape. Here is what he has to say. Hi Scrilla! Tell us what your style and vibe is all about? My vibe is simple. To make good music. My style can be versatile depending on the music. Its a fusion of rhythmic flow and good writing skills. A direct result of the various genre and sub genre of music we have here in the uk, which has influenced me over time. There's a general rule in musicand that is "if the music is good then the music is good" and that is irrespecrive of style, vibe and genre. Thats what I aim for and hopefully the rule that applie will take care of the rest for me. What has attracted you to the #BYT competition? The BYT competition showcases talent, a wide range of talent. The attraction for me initially was the opportunity it brings to individuals like myself to showcase their talent. You turn up at any event and you will find singers, rappers, dancers, poets, you name it....all showcasing their talent to a wide audience at a very credible venue. So the opportunity is massive for people starting out, for those who want to gain experience in performing their trade/craft to an audience. That's the attraction and obviously it also gives a chance to network as it brings like minded individuals in the same place. In the past I've taken part in the showcases twice and was the winner of my category last time out. The people always show me love when I'm out there and thats always a good thing. Your song was selected as the winning tune to be featured on Coast to Coast mixtapes, how did this make you feel? It feels great to be recognised for all the effort and work which has gone in over the years. I'm a workaholic so naturally I dont have that much time to admire my achievements. I tend to move onto the next thing and I'm always thinking of my next move and how to better the previous. But having said that I'm very grateful for the opportuinty to feature with a Grammy Award artist such as Chrisette Michele, definetly adds more credibility to my work and my music CV. Its a testament to God for my talents, all the work we put in and to the fans who voted for the track too because without them all this wont be possible. The mixtape will be out in some few weeks time and the press campaign will start to hit as the release date is confirmed. Any advice for other acts who are applying for #BYT? It's simple love what you do and be true to your music. Work hard, let the knock backs motivate you more cause nothing worth having ever comes easy. Last advice will be to have fun with your music. Any projects you want to promote? Look out for the announcement for the release date of the Coast2Coast Mixtape. Got two new videos dropping soon with a few other artists. Written By Sazrah @sazrah_producer Facebook.com/sazrahproducer "A beautiful song and a beautiful voice for a very important cause!" - Perez Hilton You should all be aware by now of the beautiful Linda Harrison and if you don't, you need to catch up here! I interviewed the singer songwriter in a previous blog where we discussed how successful she has been self-managing her career. She has since reached higher success with the release of her single Overexposure. But it doesn't stop there! Harrison releases a very moving single tomorrow (December 17th) in aid of the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). I have been lucky enough to see Linda perform this song live and it was very inspirtational. I love all of her music - it is contagious, but it is this very song that blows me away the most. I even shed a little tear when I watched the music video for it. *embarrassed face* Here it is below: Just beautiful! The arrangement is outstanding and the chorus just hits me hard. I can feel every word she is saying. I find the video very innocent and effective in delivering a message through art. But it is also very open, leaving you to interpret it in your own way. How Can You Help? "Be With You" will be released on 17th December. Pre-order your copy by texting TRACK NSPCC to 80818 (UK only. Texts cost £1). A Hip Hop Dance Act from Cambridge who are Taking the World by Storm10/12/2012
I am delighted to have the chance to blog about an act from my area - Cambridgeshire! They go by the name of Elementz Ent and their success has been huge and is still expanding across the globe. With clients as big as the Black Eyed Peas, and performances abroad as well as in famous UK venues (Olympia, The Royal Opera House, Hammersmith Apollo and Indigo2 to name a few), there is no doubt that these guys have the talent that keeps us all entertained to the fullest. They have competed in The International World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas, USA & The IDO World Hip Hop Championships in Poland but they still feel it is important to stick to their roots and perform locally so have applied to perform in Cambridge's biggest urban and wordl talent show Bling Ya Ting (which I am proud to be on the judging panel of)! Click here for details on how to apply. I decided to have a quick catch up with this diverse dance crew and see what they are all about. I was also curious about with their views on Bling Ya Ting as they have performed on this talent competition every single year since it started. Since showcasing yourself into the public eye, you have received big name clients such as The Black Eyed Peas, Robert Sales and Coca Cola! Tell us more. How did this all come about? We have just kept training and putting ourselves out their and the opportunities have come to us. As the years have gone by we have become more professional to use our talent as a career and work for these types of clients. But our main aim is to keep training and develop ourselves as artists. You have taken part in Bling Ya Ting since it started and are applying again this year. What elements of the show motivate you to take part every time? For us, it's a platform to showcase our work within the region we are representing. We also want to show support to the other acts who may just be starting out or also professionals. How much have you grown as an act since your first Bling Ya Ting audition up until now? Has the show helped you develop as an act in anyway? We have grown 100% and continue to grow. The show helps you develop as it is a regular platform. You have travelled round the world as an act. But what does representing Cambridge mean to you? We have grown to be a collective from all round the UK but always based in Cambridge, we want to rep hard! The scene here needs growth! What advice would you give to other Bling Ya Ting artists who are auditioning this year? Come hard, train hard and do you! Any projects coming up? We will be producing our first Hip Hop Theatre production next year based on the 4 Elements of Life and performing it in Cambridge, check out our website www.elementzent.com to keep up to date with us. Thank You Guys!! Now sit back and watch a showreel of a few of their performances.... |
